Thutmose II was the fourth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of Egypt. He ruled from 1493 BC to 1479 BC and was the son of Thutmose I and Queen Ahmose. He married his half-sister, Hatshepsut, who later became one of the most powerful pharaohs in Egyptian history. Thutmose II's reign was relatively short, and during his time, he undertook military campaigns in Nubia and the Levant. He is also known for constructing a temple at Karnak and building a tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Thutmose II died at a relatively young age, and his son, Thutmose III, ascended to the throne as a child with Hatshepsut serving as his regent.
